What kind of yeast is best for bread machine?

Yeast is one of the main ingredients in the bread making process as yeast is what makes the bread dough rise. To make most yeast bread, the dough requires multiple rises.

Flour and other ingredients are mixed with yeast to form the dough which is allowed to rest until it doubles in volume and gets through the first rise.

The dough is then deflated and shaped as desired and allowed to rest for the second rise as needed before baking. The type of yeast and room temperature can impact how well the dough rises. Yeast works well in a warm environment.

    What is bread machine yeast?

There are different types of yeast available in the market - active dry yeast, instant yeast, and bread machine yeast. Bread machine yeast is similar to the instant yeast and can be directly added to the flour without any need of proofing first.

Is bread machine yeast the same as active dry yeast?

Bread machine yeast and active dry yeast are different. Active dry yeast is required to be activated or proofed first before adding to the flour. It is proofed by adding warm water, and sugar and allowing the mixture to stand for a few minutes until it gets bubbles at the top. It is then ready for use and can be added to the flour.

Bread machine yeast or instant yeast are added directly to the flour and there is no need to activate these.
