Avocado ice cream is a great dessert to use up your ripe avocados this summer. It is very refreshing and a perfect treat to beat the heat.
This is an easy avocado ice cream recipe with no eggs and no condensed milk. It is made in the Cuisinart 1.5 qt. ice cream maker.
This is a must try ice cream flavors if you enjoy making ice cream at home. Avocado ice cream has a smooth and creamy texture, a sweet and refreshing vanilla flavor and a slightly rejuvenating lemon flavor.

Ingredients
Making avocado ice cream at home requires only a few basic ingredients apart from avocados. You will need two ripe avocados, it is best to use haas avocados.
Heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and a little bit of lemon juice are all you will need. Lemon juice or lime juice will prevent the avocados from oxidizing and turning dark in color.
I have used organic cane sugar for sweetness but you can use a sugar substitute like maple syrup or agave sweetener but the ice cream may not be very scoopable.
Instructions
To make the avocado ice cream recipe at home, cut the avocados into halves vertically and remove the pits with the help of a knife. Now scoop the flesh of the avocado into a high speed blender like Vitamix.
Add the milk, lemon juice, sugar, and a pinch of salt into the blender. Blend it well until the avocados are blended into a smooth paste and the sugar is well dissolved.
Avocado ice cream ingredients
Blend all the ingredients except heavy cream and vanilla extract.
Transfer the pureed avocado mixture into a bowl and add heavy cream and vanilla extract to it. Mix it well with a whisk gently. Refrigerate the ice cream mix to chill it for about 1-2 hours before churning it.
Depending on the ice cream maker, you may have to freeze the bowl 24 hours before churning the ice cream. If you are using a compressor one, it is recommended to pre cool the bowl in the machine for 5-10 minutes before churning the ice cream mix. This reduces the overall churning time.
Transfer the blended mix to a bowl.
Add heavy cream and mix well.
Stir the ice cream mix before pouring it into the ice cream machine bowl. Churn it for about 25-30 minutes as per the ice cream maker's manufacturer's instructions.
Avocado ice cream will be of soft serve consistency. You can enjoy it like this or freeze it for 5-6 hours to make it firmer.
Churn the avocado ice cream
Transfer to a freezer-safe container.
Serving suggestions
You can enjoy a scoop of avocado ice cream at home in a sugar cone, waffle cone, or a bowl. You can add some bananas, chocolate syrup, caramel, or grated dark chocolate.
You can also serve it with some warm lava cake, warm brownie or a slice of chocolate cake. You can top it with some whipped cream too.
Variations
You can adapt this recipe to your liking.
Chocolate - add about â…“ cup of cocoa powder while blending to make chocolate avocado ice cream. You can also add a few chocolate chips towards the end of the churning process.
Vegan - replace milk with oat milk and heavy whipping cream with oat creamer to make dairy-free vegan avocado ice cream. You can reduce the sugar quantity to â…” cup.
Sweetener - you can use a sweetner like maple syrup or agave nectar instead of organic cane sugar. However, the ice cream texture may not be scoopable enough.
Equipment
This avocado ice cream recipe is made in the 1.5 qt. Cuisinart ICE 100 ice cream maker and it makes about 1 qt. ice cream. You can scale the recipe to adapt the measurements to make it in your ice cream maker.

Storage
You can store the avocado ice cream in a freezer safe container for up to a month. You can also freeze it in a loaf pan and cover it with a cling wrap to prevent ice crystals from forming on the top surface.
