It just takes a few minutes to whip up the best fresh whipped cream with just 3 ingredients. The best thing is you can control the quantity of sugar you add.

Ingredients
You can easily make the best whipped cream at home with just 3 ingredients or even less. You will need heavy cream, a sweetener, and vanilla extract for flavor.

Organic cane sugar, icing sugar, powdered sugar, or agave nectar can be used as a sweetener. Instead of vanilla extract, you can also use a few drops of rose water.
Instructions
It is very easy to make homemade whipped cream, especially with the KitchenAid stand mixer. The wire or whisk attachment of the stand mixer comes in very handy to make whipped cream at home.
If you have time, pre-chill the stand mixer bowl and the whisk attachment in the refrigerator for about half an hour. If you do not have time, you can skip this, it will just take a minute or two more to make the whipped cream.

Pour the chilled heavy cream into the stand mixer bowl and place it on the stand mixer. Hook the whisk attachment and then start whipping the cream from a low speed of 2 and gradually increase it to 8 or 10. Continue whipping for about 3 minutes or until you see some soft peaks.
Add some sugar or a sweetener of your choice and vanilla extract. Continue whipping again at high speed until medium peaks form and then finally the peaks are stiff.
At this point, stop the mixer. If you continue whipping, the cream will get over-churned and release butter instead.

It can take a total of 6-7 minutes to make whipped cream. If you pre-chill the bowl then it will take a few minutes less. Once ready, you can enjoy the whipped cream with your favorite fruits and desserts.
Substitutions
Making whipped cream at home requires only a few ingredients or just the whipping cream itself. You can still do a few substitutions.
- Sweetener - instead of cane sugar, you can use powdered sugar or icing sugar, a sweetener of your choice like agave nectar, or skip the sweetener entirely.
- Vanilla extract - if you don't have it you can skip it or add a few drops of rose water instead.
Serving suggestions
Whipped cream is a sweet condiment served with desserts like brownies, cakes, pies, and sundaes. It can also be eaten with pancakes, waffles, and ice creams. A dollop of homemade whipped cream can be topped on iced beverages like iced coffee and strawberry milkshake.

Equipment
The KitchenAid stand mixer comes in very handy to whip heavy cream. The whisk attachment is used to whip cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks are formed.
Personally, I like the bowl lift stand mixer compared to the tilt head one as it is more powerful.
You can also whip cream with a hand mixer or a hand blender with the whisk attachment
Storage
It is best to make whipped cream when you plan to use it. In case you have any leftovers, it can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days
Top tip
- Keep monitoring the cream while whipping to ensure it does not get over-whipped and releases butter.
- To speed up the entire process of whipping cream, keep the bowl and the wire attachment in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before whipping.
