The Fall season and pumpkin are analogous and it's time to enjoy and relish the flavors of pumpkin and pumpkin spice. Pumpkin mousse is one of the cheesecake desserts without the graham cracker base and makes it a perfect gluten-free treat.

It can be made for special events, parties, potlucks, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. This pumpkin mousse with cream cheese recipe is a no-egg, no-gelatin, quick and easy dessert that can be made in a matter of 15 minutes. The best thing is that it stores well in the fridge and can be made ahead of time.

    Ingredients

Pumpkin mousse is a no-egg, no-bake easy dessert that can be made at home from scratch with just 5 ingredients. The main ingredients are full fat cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice.

Cream cheese is the base of the mousse and heavy cream once whipped, makes it light, fluffy, and airy. It is preferable to have cream cheese at room temperature to be able to blend it well. However, heavy cream must be chilled.

Icing sugar or powdered sugar works best. You can easily make powdered sugar at home by blending cane sugar in a blender like Vitamix. You can also use a sweetener of your choice.

Pumpkin puree is not to be confused with pumpkin pie filling. You can look for canned pumpkin puree and most of the time it just says pumpkin on the label. You can also use homemade pumpkin puree. Pumpkin spice adds a nice warm fall flavor to the dessert.

Optionally toppings like whipped cream, caramel, chocolate chips, cookies, and crackers can be added to decorate the mousse, especially for special occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Instructions

Pumpkin mousse is very easy to make at home from scratch and can be quickly whipped up just before a party or celebration. You will need either a hand blender with the whisk attachment, a hand mixer, or a stand mixer.

Blend the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl until it is smooth. Cream cheese is easy to work with at room temperature so, keep it outside for a few hours before blending. If you forget to do so, then simply microwave it for about 30 seconds.

Now add all the ingredients including pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, powdered sugar, and heavy cream. Blend everything on medium speed until light, fluffy, and creamy. Pumpkin cheesecake mousse is now ready to be served.

    Serving suggestions

Pumpkin spice mousse is a quick and easy no-bake dessert that can be made in a matter of minutes. It can be served in small mason jars, cups, shot glasses, bowls, small plates, or waffle cups and cones.

You can decorate it with toppings of your choice. Whipped cream is a popular choice with some cinnamon powder or even a hint of pumpkin spice. Small chocolate chips, sprinkles, melted chocolate, caramel, cookies, graham crackers, or nuts can be added as a topping as well.

Pumpkin mousse can be decorated in a variety of ways and you can get creative with different ideas. You can just make a layer of the mousse and then top it with the cream, or make a layered dessert of mousse, whipped cream, chocolate chips, or chocolate sauce.

    Storage

Pumpkin mousse can last for about 4 days in the fridge. It is a great make-ahead dessert for Thanksgiving, holidays party, potluck, or special occasion. Though it can be made quickly in just about 15 minutes, preparing it earlier can relieve you of any stress to make a dessert on the day of the event.

It is not advisable to freeze it because the dessert is light, fluffy, and airy. On freezing it will lose the fluffiness and even after thawing it will not have the same texture.
