Ingredients to make fruit and cream dessert
The main ingredient to make fruit cream dessert is heavy whipping cream (heavy cream or fresh cream). You can use fruits of your choice, I like to use strawberries, blueberries, mango, plums, and raspberries.
It is best to avoid very juicy fruits like watermelon and pineapple as they can make the dessert a little runny. A few drops of vanilla extract are added for flavor.
Fruits add their own sweetness but you can add some sugar or low-calorie sweetener or stevia as per liking.
Can you make fruit cream sugar free?
Absolutely! You can use a sweetener of your choice (like Stevia) or you can skip the sugar as the fruits have its own sweetness. Sometimes I skip the sugar but the kids are not always happy about it 🙂
How to make fruit cream at home?
Take about a cup of chilled heavy cream in a bowl and whip it with a hand blender on high speed for about a minute, until it forms a soft peak.
Add sugar or low calorie sweetener and a few drops of vanilla extract and continue whipping on high speed for about a minute more until the peaks are hard. Now the cream is ready to use.
Do not over whip, else it will start releasing butter. Mix your favorite diced fruits and your dessert is ready. It is this easy!
Serving ideas for fruit cream dessert
Once the cream is whipped, you can store it in the refrigerator and serve it with fresh fruits when you are ready to eat.
If you have a bigger gathering, then you can mix the fruits in advance and refrigerate it. Fruit cream is best served chilled.
