Air fryer mushrooms make a perfect side dish for your meal. They are vegan and gluten-free. They need very little time to prep and are ready in about 10 minutes.
They are flavorful and absolutely delicious. Even those who do not like mushrooms might get tempted to try them.
Ingredients
Air-fried mushrooms need very few ingredients to make them tempting and delicious. I have used the cremini mushrooms but any type of fresh mushrooms like button, portabella, or shitake work well.
Garlic is one of the ingredients that adds a lot of flavors. Either dried garlic or fresh garlic can be used in this recipe. Soy sauce, or tamari sauce for a gluten-free version, adds color and savory taste. Some olive oil, salt, and pepper are added for seasoning and flavor.
After rinsing the mushrooms well, dry them well, and then cut them into quarters. Depending on the size of the mushroom, you can cut them into smaller pieces or just cook them whole.

Instructions
Mushrooms are so easy to make in the air fryer that once you have tried them you will not want to go back to any other cooking method or saute them on the stovetop.
Once you have cut the mushrooms in the desired size, all you need to do is mix the olive oil, soy sauce, and garlic in a mixing bowl. It is preferred to add salt in the end once mushrooms have cooked so that they dry up well and do not retain any water.
Mushrooms are roasted in the air fryer at 390 °F, cooking them at a high temperature allows the moisture to evaporate and the mushrooms to dry well.

After preheating the air fryer for 5 minutes, place the mushrooms in the air fryer basket ensuring they are well spread out to ensure they cook evenly. Cook them for about 10 minutes and then add salt, pepper, and roast for another minute.
Mushrooms take about 10-12 minutes to cook, depending on the quantity and size of the mushrooms. For this recipe, I have used cremini mushrooms and they are done in about 11 minutes.
At 10 minutes, you can open the basket and add salt and pepper and shake the basket. Cook for an additional 1 minute to allow the seasoning to get well absorbed.
Mushrooms are well done once they are dried up. You can also insert a fork and test that it goes through it easily. Remove them from the air fryer basket, once done, and transfer them into a serving bowl.

Serving suggestions
Roasted mushrooms can be garnished with some scallion greens. You can also add a few drops of lime juice. These air-fried mushrooms can be served with any meal.
They go well with pasta dishes and especially mac and cheese. I also like to top some roasted mushrooms on garlic bread or toast with some cream cheese. It tastes absolutely delicious.
I also like to make some roasted bell peppers in the air fryer and then stuff both, mushrooms and bell pepper in tortillas and make quesadillas. They taste delicious. Even kids will enjoy them.
Storage
Cooked mushrooms must be consumed within 2 hours. If you are meal planning or have leftovers, it is best to freeze them in an air-tight container once they have cooled down completely. When you are ready to eat, you can thaw and use them.
Here is a great post detailing how to freeze mushrooms and you might find the information helpful.
