Homemade passion fruit ice cream is a perfect treat to enjoy this summer. This easy-to-make no cook ice cream recipe is made with no eggs and is gluten-free. I have made the recipe with frozen passion fruit cubes.

Making ice cream at home gives you control over the ingredients. Also, an ice cream maker makes the entire process very easy and you can enjoy homemade ice cream as and when you like.

I have used mango pulp, usually found online or in grocery stores like Walmart, Kroger, or Indian grocery stores. I like to use the Alphonso mango pulp, but other varities will work as well.

This mango passion fruit ice cream recipe is a creamy, refreshing, tangy, and pleasant dessert to make for parties, potlucks, or just to try out a different ice cream flavor.

This no-cook, no-egg mango passion fruit ice cream is made mainly with only 4 ingredients. Frozen passion fruit is easily available in the freezer section in the grocery stores. If you can find fresh passion fruit, you can use it instead.

Heavy whipping cream, whole milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt are all you need.

    Instructions

It is really easy to make this homemade mango passionfruit ice cream recipe at home in an ice cream maker.

Blend the frozen passion fruit cubes, mango pulp, sugar, milk, and a pinch of salt in a high speed blender like Vitamix and make a smooth puree. Pour the ice cream mixture into a medium bowl and add heavy cream to it and mix it with a spatula or a spoon. There is no need to blend the cream.

Since most of the ingredients are chilled, the mixture is cold enough and there is no need to chill the mixture in the fridge. Churn the mixture in the ice cream machine for about 25 minutes or as per the manufacturer's instructions.

The mango passion fruit ice cream will be of soft-serve consistency once the ice cream machine cycle ends. You can enjoy it as is or transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze it for 5-6 hours before serving.

Step by step photos of how to make Mango Passionfruit ice cream.

    Substitutions

If you can find fresh passion fruit, you can make this passion fruit ice cream with fresh fruit. Scoop the fruit pulp and filter out the passion fruit seeds with the help of a mesh strainer.

Fresh or frozen mangoes can be used instead of mango pulp. You may have to adjust the sugar depending on how sweet the mangoes are.

It is best to use whole milk for a nice creamy texture, however, if you are running out of it or want to use low-fat milk then you can use it. In that case, the ice cream will be less creamy and it can take longer to churn as well.

    Serving suggestions

Mango passion fruit ice cream is flavorful, it is sweet and slightly tangy. It can be enjoyed as is in a bowl, sugar cone, or waffle cone. You can also top it with fresh passion fruit puree, mango cubes, or both while serving. It is also a perfect ice cream to add to the banana split sundae.

    Equipment

An ice cream maker makes the entire process of making ice cream at home a breeze. I have made this mango passion fruit ice cream in a Cuisinart ICE 100 ice cream maker. It has a compressor in it so there is no need to freeze the bowl for 24 hours before churning the ice cream.

If you have an ice cream maker with a freezer bowl then you will need to freeze it for 24 hours prior to making this ice cream.

If you are looking for an ice cream maker for your family's needs then check out this post on which ice cream maker to buy.

    Storage

Homemade mango passionfruit ice cream can be stored in an air-tight freezer safe container for about a month. It is sweet, slightly tangy, and full of refreshing flavor!

    Top tip

    • If you are using a compressor ice cream maker then chill the bowl in the machine for about 5 minutes before pouring the mixture into it. This will reduce the overall churning time.
