Ingredients for grilled cheese sandwich

A grilled cheese sandwich can be made with just bread and cheese. If you are in a mood to try some variations then you can add a few vegetables of your choice.

A vegetable grilled cheese can be made with slices of tomatoes, bell pepper, and onions. Salt and pepper are sprinkled for enhancing the flavor.

I like to use a combination of cheddar, mozzarella, and pepper jack cheeses. Also, you will need to apply little butter on both sides of the grilled cheese sandwich.

White bread works best to make a grilled cheese. I use the homemade one as I make it regularly using my bread maker.

However, French bread or sourdough bread will work great for making a hot grilled cheese sandwich in the air fryer.

What cheese is good for grilled cheese?

You can make it with just one type of cheese or a combination of two or more. Cheese is always a personal preference but with a grilled cheese, cheddar cheese goes the best. I like to use the sharp cheddar but mild or medium ones work well too.

If you like to add some spiciness, then adding some pepper jack or Monterey jack can add a slight hint of spiciness. Mozarella melts really well and is perfect to add to grilled cheese.

Colby Jack, Swiss cheese, or any of your favorite cheeses that melt well can be added to make the sandwich.

Can you air fry grilled cheese sandwich?

The simple answer is yes! You can air fry grilled cheese sandwiches and they turn out absolutely delicious with all the melted cheese!

In order to make a grilled cheese sandwich, you need equipment like an electric grill, griddle, or a panini maker. But with air fryers being very common these days, it is very convenient and easy to make a grilled cheese sandwich in an air fryer in just a matter of 5 minutes!

How to make grilled cheese sandwich in air fryer?

A grilled cheese sandwich can be made in the air fryer in just a few quick and easy steps. Before you start, it is best to preheat the air fryer to 360 °F.

Now take two slices of white bread. On one of the slices, add the grated or sliced cheese, followed by a few slices of bell pepper, tomatoes, and onions.

Sprinkle salt and pepper and add some more grated cheese. Put the second slice of bread on the top and apply some butter.

Place the sandwich in the preheated air fryer with the buttered side down and then apply some more butter on the top slice. Alternatively, you could also just butter the slices before starting to arrange it, whatever is more convenient to you.

Air fry the sandwich for 5 minutes. Check the sandwich after 5 minutes and it will be golden and crusty. Carefully remove the grilled cheese from the air fryer using a pair of kitchen tongs. Slice it with a serrated bread knife and enjoy a hot grilled sandwich.
