    instant pot thai iced tea

I am a big fan of Thai cuisine and when I am having a Thai curry, Thai iced tea is a must. It complements the food wonderfully and I just can't resist not having it. I love making Thai iced tea at home, especially in a pressure cooker like the Instant Pot as I do not have to monitor it.

    Ingredients

To make Thai iced tea, one of the main ingredients is a good Thai tea mix. There are plenty of options available for the Thai tea mix.

However, when I looked at the ingredients listed, I saw that most of them had food color added. Finally, I found one with all-natural ingredients, the All Natural Thai Tea mix.

Other ingredients are evaporated milk and condensed milk as a sweetener.

I have made Thai iced tea on the stovetop as well as in the Instant Pot and I like the fact that you don't need to monitor it with the latter.

    Method 1: Instant Pot

Why make Thai tea in an Instant Pot? It saves your time as you do not need to boil water and you are completely hands-off and do not need to monitor while making tea.

Add water and Thai tea mix in the Instant Pot liner and start it on the high-pressure mode for 15 minutes followed by a natural pressure release.

Strain the tea using a fine strainer and allow it to cool down or alternately refrigerate for a few hours.

    Method 2: Stovetop

In a small pot, boil water until it starts rolling boil. Add the Thai tea mix and let it boil for another 2 minutes. Turn off the stove, cover the pot, and let the tea steep for 15-20 minutes. Filter it with a strainer and let it cool down completely.

    Serving suggestions

To make Thai iced tea, put a cup of crushed or cubes of ice in a tall glass or even a mason jar. Pour the tea liquid over the ice, and then add sweetened condensed milk as per taste along with a few tablespoons of evaporated milk.

Give it a gentle stir using a straw and it is ready to be enjoyed. I like to use stainless steel straws, which is an environment-friendly choice and have been using them ever since my kids were younger and used to drink milk with a straw.

    Variations

To make vegan Thai iced tea, simply use coconut milk and sweetened coconut condensed milk or a sweetener of your choice like blue agave.

    Storage

Thai tea can be stored in the fridge for about 2 weeks in an airtight mason jar. When you want to enjoy it, add some milk and sweetener.

        Hi Maria,

As mentioned in the post, you can also put coconut milk. The Thai tea mix package has instructions to add evaporated milk.
