OMG! Celery ginger lemon juice is such a refreshing drink and I was blown away when my hubby made it for the first time in Vitamix. I had some idea that celery was a healthy vegetable but it was never on my shopping list a few years back.

But tasting celery juice changed all that. And my little research about the nutrients and health benefits of celery impressed me a lot. I use it in salads and soups for its full health benefits.

Celery juice is definitely a very refreshing summer juice and a healthy drink to remain hydrated in the heat. This green juice has become a signature drink whenever we have a grilled paneer tikka with friends.

Health benefits of celery ginger lemon juice

Celery is packed with Vitamins K, A, B, and C along with phytonutrients, flavonoids, magnesium, phosphorous, calcium, and potassium. Ginger too has many of these nutrients along with zinc, niacin, riboflavin, etc. (Reference Healthline).

These nutrients are good anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory, assisting in chronic disease prevention and lowering blood pressure. All these health benefits make celery ginger lemon juice a perfect morning juice.

To make celery juice in a Vitamix blender, first, chop the celery stalks into 3-4 inch pieces. Add an inch of ginger peeled or otherwise (if it is organic), some lemon juice, ice, and water. Start Vitamix on the "smoothie" setting or high speed or until well blended.

What do you use to strain celery juice?

For best results strain the celery ginger juice using a nut milk bag, strainer, or a cheesecloth.

What to add to celery juice to make it taste better?

To make celery juice taste better, you can sweeten it. There are several options to replace normal cane sugar. Vegan choices are Blue agave or a pinch of unbleached organic stevia (or a sweetener of your choice).

Blue agave has a slightly lower glycemic index as compared to sugar so it can be preferred over sugar intake (every little bit helps I guess).

For vegetarians, honey is another option. Honey has glucose and fructose but is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, has anti-oxidants, and is supposed to have several health benefits.

    How to drink celery juice?

Take some ice in a glass and pour the celery juice over it. Add some mint leaves and a pinch of Himalayan salt or Black salt to enhance the flavor.

You can add some fizz to the juice as well if you have a soda maker at hand.

celery juice in a stemless glass with a celery stalk in the glass and a slice of lime on the rim.

Can you store celery ginger juice?

Juices taste best when made fresh. Keeping celery juice open for longer than a few hours can oxidize its nutrients, diminishing its benefits, and may also taste a bit stale.

What is a quick way to make celery juice?

Keeping portions of cut celery stalks and ginger in ziplock bags or the blender and storing in the fridge can be handy. You can plan ahead and help save time whenever you want to have the juice.

Would it be better to forego the ice when blending , since you will be needing to strain juice ?

        Hi Tova,

The purpose of ice is to keep the ingredients cool while blending. If you don't want to add it, you will have to add little more cold water to allow it to blend well. Hope this helps.

Everything about this recipe is really good, except what maniac adds kala namak for flavor to a juice?? It smells and tastes like egg. If its for a health benefit I would understand, but to enhance flavor??? You have a stronger palate than I do, the eggy smell made me gag. The next batch I made without it was much better to me. Anyone else thinking of trying this recipe, give the black salt a sniff test before adding it to see if it's up your alley.

        Hi Keaton,

Sorry to know that you did not like the taste of black salt. It is just to be used in a very small quantity, just like a small pinch. It does have health benefits as well, it acts as an antioxidant, is low in sodium, and is rich in minerals.

I understand you did not like its flavor, and it is absolutely fine to skip it. Appreciate your feedback.

        Regards,
        Alpa
