When oranges are in season, there are great ways to enjoy them like fresh orange juice, orange soda, orange cake, and more. I love making marmalade with fresh organic oranges. It is great to enjoy with bread, toast, or ice cream.
Ingredients
This delicious, orange marmalade requires only 4 ingredients. Fresh and ripe organic oranges are needed. Using organic ones is recommended as we use the skin to make it and best to avoid the ones with pesticides.
Pectin is needed to make this jam which allows it to set.
Butter helps avoid bubble formation, binds the marmalade well, and gives it a glossy texture. Sugar balances the tanginess from pectin and bitterness from the orange peels.

Instructions
Thoroughly rinse the oranges with water to get rid of any dirt and wipe it dry with a kitchen towel. Cut the oranges into halves and extract the orange juice with the help of a citrus juicer.
Scoop the pulp and the white part (pith) from the halves after juicing. The more pith you scrape out, the better it is. Slice the orange peels into โ inch thickness and 2 inches length.

Juice the oranges then scoop out the pulp and white pith as much as possible.

Gather all the ingredients.
Place the orange juice, orange peels, sugar, pectin, and butter into the bread machine pan. Select and start the "jam" cycle. The bread machine will mix all the ingredients with the paddles for a few minutes and then mix them intermittently and cook them as well.
Once the cycle completes, the marmalade is ready! Put on oven mitts and grab the hot pan from the bread machine.
Pour the marmalade into clean sterilized jars. You can use regular glass jars or Ball Mason jars, whichever you have on hand but do not use any plastic containers. Let the marmalade cool down completely, then close the lid and refrigerate them.

Place all ingredients in the bread machine pan and start the "jam" cycle.

Marmalade is ready, transfer it to clean jars.
Serving suggestions
I like to serve marmalade with

Equipment
I have made this marmalade in the Zojirushi bread machine using the "jam" setting. Any bread machine with the jam cycle will work fine to make this recipe.
A citrus juicer helps to extract juice from the oranges.
Storage
Marmalade can be stored in the fridge in airtight glass jars or Ball mason jars for about 2-3 months. It can also be frozen for much longer. Check out how to freeze jam.
Top tip
Add a little butter to remove bubbles trapped while making the marmalade and give it a shiny texture.

Kelsey says
Way too much pectin. Next time Iโll double the oranges and cut pectin in half. My marmalade came out hard as a rock
Alpa Jain says
Hi Kelsey,
I am sorry the marmalade came out hard. It could also be because of more white pith left on the oranges.
You can reduce the pectin or remove more of white pith.
Hope this helps.
