Pour a cup of water in the instant pot container and place a trivet. You can also place a steamer basket. Place the beets on the trivet. Lock the lid and turn the release knob in sealing position and select the high pressure mode.

How long do you steam beets for?

Depending on the size of the beets, the cooking time to steam beets will vary. Beets that are about 3 inches in diameter get cooked well in 15 minutes.

For larger beets (more than 3 inches in diameter), the cooking time is longer and takes 20 minutes to be perfectly done.

How do you check if beets are done?

To test if the beets are well done, insert a knife or a butter knife at the center of the beet and insert it till its core. If it goes in smoothly, the beets are done.

How do you fix undercooked beets?

If the knife is not able to get through then the beets need some more cooking. In this case, pressure cook the beets once again in the instant pot for another 5-7 minutes and allow the pressure to release naturally.

Beets will be hot once you remove them from the instant pot. You might not be very comfortable to peel hot beets.
